Akash suffered a groin injury during India's tour to England in a five-Test match series. The pacer from Bengal is finally back in action, as he was seen witnessing the Duleep Trophy Finals on Thursday.

Akash Deep is back in rehab at the BCCI’S CoE

Ever since his debut Test against England in Ranchi, the Bengal pacer has been a key part of the Indian bowling lineup. Much like Mohammad Shami, Deep is known for his wonderful seam position and his ability to bowl tight lengths and make things difficult for the batters.

Deep had a decent away series in England, where he grabbed his first-ever 10 haul and helped India to a historic Test victory in Edgbaston, which was also their first victory at the venue.

The pacer, however, suffered an issue with his groin during the third Test at Lord's, which made him miss out on the fourth Test at Manchester. Although after a fitness assessment, the pacer was back for the fifth Test.

While Deep featured in the last Test against England, a discomfort in his groin forced him out of the start of India's domestic season as he missed out on the Duleep Trophy.

Deep to feature in Tests against the West Indies?

India's next red-ball challenge happens to be at home, against the West Indies, starting next month. With Deep currently under rehab and training at the CoE, one would expect him to come up fit and ready to go as India kicks off their long cricketing winter against the Caribbean nation.

However, there have been no official updates about the extent of Deep's injury and his return to full fitness from the BCCI.

The Shubman Gill-led Test side will feature in two Tests against West Indies, which will be followed by two more against South Africa, later in November.
