The opener has now shared a story related to his mentor, Yuvraj Singh, highlighting how his plan turned Abhishek from a struggling batter into a match-winner for India.

Yuvraj Singh's detailed plan turns Abhishek Sharma into India superstar

In a recent Podcast at Oaktree Sports, the Indian opener highlighted how Yuvraj helped him. He revealed that the former World Cup winner's plan led him to become a match-winner for India in the shortest format.

"During the lockdown, we had a camp at his house...I needed a camp...at that time I was struggling a bit...I wasn't consistent in the IPL. We were having lunch together, and Paaji said, 'Neither am I getting you ready for the state, nor for the IPL, or even to get a cap for the country, I am preparing you to win matches for India, and I am sure of it. It will happen in the next 2-3 years, said Abhishek

Yuvraj was one of India's biggest match winners during his prime. The legendary all-rounder played a crucial role in India's title-winning campaign at the 2011 World Cup.

Abhishek Sharma the match-winner for India

Like Yuvraj, Abhishek has also emerged as a powerful ball striker who can take on bowlers and change the course of the game.

The young star ended as the leading run scorer at the Asia Cup 2025 and, with just 24 T20Is under his belt, has already become his opposition's biggest fear.

"The person whom I have idolized for so many years, if he is saying this, if he has so much belief in me, then I thought there is something about me. After that camp, I felt like my goal was even bigger. What Paaji is preparing me for, I will achieve that," added Abhishek

Abhishek is definitely on the right path to achieve great things for the country. In 24 T20Is to date, the opener has scored 849 runs at an average of 37, including two centuries.
