UCLA delivered a dominant performance on Saturday night, defeating USC 80–46 at Pauley Pavilion and extending its winning streak to eight games. After a competitive opening quarter, the Bruins took full control and never looked back, making a strong statement in Big Ten play.

The game started evenly, with both teams tied 16–16 after the first quarter. USC showed early energy, but UCLA quickly shifted the momentum in the second period. The Bruins turned up the defensive pressure and moved the ball effectively on offense, outscoring the Trojans 27–12 in the quarter. That surge allowed UCLA to build a comfortable halftime lead and set the tone for the rest of the game.

Lauren Betts was the most dominant player on the floor. The UCLA center finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds, recording a double-double while controlling the paint on both ends. She also added three blocks, making it difficult for USC to score near the basket. UCLA’s size advantage was clear all night, as the Bruins outscored the Trojans 42–10 in the paint and won the rebounding battle 46–26.

UCLA’s guards also played a key role in the win. Kiki Rice scored 14 points and handed out eight assists without committing a turnover, keeping the offense organized and efficient. Gianna Kneepkens added 15 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Gabriela Jaquez chipped in 12 points and six rebounds. The Bruins showed strong balance, with multiple players contributing on both offense and defense.

USC struggled to find a rhythm against UCLA’s defense. Kara Dunn led the Trojans with 11 points, while freshman Jazzy Davidson finished with 10 points on tough shooting. USC shot just 27 percent from the field and was limited to only six points in the fourth quarter. The Trojans were also without star guard JuJu Watkins, who is sitting out the season while recovering from a torn ACL.

By the fourth quarter, UCLA’s lead had grown to as many as 35 points, allowing the Bruins to comfortably close out the rivalry win. The victory moved UCLA to 14–1 overall and 4–0 in the Big Ten, giving the Bruins sole possession of first place in the conference. USC fell to 10–4 and will look to regroup as league play continues.

UCLA will try to keep its momentum going when it travels to Lincoln, Nebraska to face the Cornhuskers on January 11 at 7 p.m. ET on the Big Ten Network. USC will look to bounce back at home against Oregon on Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET, also on the Big Ten Network.
