In the most scintillating of ways, Grace College didn't show a whole lot of mercy.

The final score of their NAIA women's basketball game on Tuesday night: Grace 172, Ohio Christian 91.

Yep, 172 points in a 40-minute game. More than four points per minute.

Grace College Athletics shared that it's the most points ever scored in a women's college basketball game at any level: NAIA or NCAA Divisions I, II and III.

How do you score 172 points in a game?

Something like this:

  • 105 shot attempts from the field (61 makes)
  • 40-for-44 from the foul line
  • 11 players appearing between 10 and 23 minutes of action

Interestingly, Grace College only went 10-for-38 from 3-point range. This point total could've been much higher.

Maddy Poynter led the way with 34 points, including 17-for-17 at the foul line. Becca Gerdt went for 28 points in 18 minutes on 9-for-10 from the floor and 10-for-12 at the line.

Abbie Ritzema and Emma Sperry each had 21 points. Morganne Houk went for 20 points and a team-high eight assists.

Braylin Terrell had 14, Paula Fernandez had 12 and Molly Long had 11.

That's eight players in double figures.

The school in Indiana forced Ohio Christian into a whopping 42 turnovers. Grace scored 47 in the first quarter, 46 in the second, a tame 30 in the third and then 49 in the fourth quarter.

That's a lot of points.
