One of the most surprising moves of the WNBA preseason was the Atlanta Dream's release of Haley Jones.

They took Jones out of Stanford with the sixth overall pick in 2023. She had played 80 games for Atlanta, including 30 starts.

But just like that, Jones was out of a job.

Finally, about three weeks later, Jones has her next gig.

The Phoenix Mercury announced that they've signed Jones to a rest-of-season contract.

Jones has been a so-so contributor in her WNBA career so far, at 3.8 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

She was a legend in college for the Cardinal.

The 6-foot-1 point forward averaged double figures in all four of her seasons along with career averages of 7.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

Jones was a first-team All-American as a junior and a third-team All-American as a senior.

She's capable of doing almost anything on a basketball court, with her outside shot the one thing that can hold her back.

Jones now gets a chance with the Mercury to prove once again that she belongs.
