The New York Libertyare now off to a 2-0 start after winning the WNBA title in the 2024 season. So, the Liberty have picked up exactly where they left off.
On Thursday night, the Liberty had no issues against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky with a 99-74 victory on the road. Four of the five New York starters finished with double figures in scoring, and Kennedy Burke chipped in 17 points off the bench in another well-balanced attack.
The Liberty even held the Sky to just nine points in the second half, and the poor outing by Reese became a topic of conversation.
But, with all that aside, the Liberty made WNBA history by hitting 19 3-pointers in the game.

The 19 3-pointers is a new regular season record, and six times a team has made 18 3-pointers, including the Liberty against the Phoenix Mercury a season ago.
The Las Vegas Aces even made 23 3-pointers in the 2022 WNBA playoffs, but the Liberty now have the regular-season record with another offensive barrage.
Natasha Cloud and Burke led the way with four each, and eight Liberty players scored at least one 3-pointer in the game.
So, early on, the shots are falling for New York, and the Liberty have crossed the 90-point threshold in both games so far this season.
Next up is a showdown against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on the road on Saturday, and it should be a fascinating battle.
