Game 5 of the WNBA semifinal series between the Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces was one of the most dramatic games of the 2025 playoffs. The sixth-seeded Fever, without injured star Caitlin Clark, battled through Aliyah Boston fouling out and a scary sequence involving All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell to force overtime at Michelob ULTRA Arena -- where the second-seeded Aces ultimately prevailed, 90-83, to reach the WNBA Finals for the third time in four seasons.
Mitchell was ruled out for the game in the third quarter. After a couple defensive possessions where she appeared to grab at her right knee, Mitchell fell to the court in a concerning scene that prompted on-site medical personnel to wheel out a stretcher for her.

Fortunately, Mitchell was gingerly helped off the court by teammates, and head coach Stephanie White confirmed that Mitchell was transported to a local hospital, where she could receive fluids to combat severe lower body cramping.
The Fever on Wednesday confirmed that Mitchell was released from the hospital late Tuesday night, and that the three-time All-Star is set to make a full recovery following the cramping incident.
An update on Kelsey Mitchell from the Fever, who exited Tuesday's game with lower-body cramping: She was treated and released late Tuesday night and will remain under the supervision of the Fever medical team. Mitchell is expected to make a full recovery.

Mitchell averaged 22.3 points per game during the playoffs, during which she shot 43 percent from the field and from 3-point range. The 29-year-old was selected second overall in the 2018 WNBA Draft and has spent her entire career to date with the Fever -- who will enter the 2026 season as one of the favorites to win the championship, following the resilience they displayed throughout their memorable playoff run.
