These are uncertain times in the WNBA. The league and the WNBPA last week agreed to an extension of the current collective bargaining agreement through the end of the month; that gives the two sides 24 more days to come to an understanding over a new CBA that will guarantee players higher salaries -- as well as a larger slice of basketball-related income via a revised revenue sharing agreement, which is a foundational issue for the players' union.

Against the backdrop of these negotiations, some of the WNBA's stars are opting for additional -- or new -- pursuits. WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike on Wednesday became the first player signed to the overseas Project B league, while the Unrivaled league rosters -- which include many of the WNBA's top players -- were also set Wednesday. 

Meanwhile, Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston has made a move into another sport entirely with a historic investment in women's soccer.

Boston joins Boston Legacy FC investment consortium

Boston on Thursday was confirmed as a member of a star-studded investment group bringing expansion franchise Boston Legacy FC to the NWSL. 

In investing in one of the NWSL's new clubs, Boston joins a diverse group that includes actress Elizabeth Banks, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins -- who becomes the first active NCAA athlete to hold an ownership stake in a professional women's franchise. 

Boston already has a busy offseason on tap. In addition to producing episodes of her Post Moves podcast with WNBA legend Candace Parker, Boston is set to provide analysis of Big Ten basketball games on Peacock. When a new CBA is agreed upon and ratified, the three-time All-Star will also get to work leading the Fever on another deep postseason run in 2026.

Boston Legacy will begin play in 2026 as the NWSL expands to 16 clubs.
