Myles McLaughlin is closing in.

The superstar high school running back from Knox (Indiana) is making a real run at the national rushing record held by current NFL great Derrick Henry.

On Friday night, in a 48-18 Knox sectional win, McLaughlin ran for 383 yards and six touchdowns.

McLaughlin now needs 783 yards to pass Henry.

Henry, who played his high school ball in Florida, ran for 12,124 yard with 153 TDs as a high school player.

Recently, NFL reporter Kay Adams asked Henry about the idea of his record being broken.

"He's a beast," Henry said. "Go break it, man. Records are meant to be broken."

McLaughlin did break one Henry record already on Friday night.

The Indiana senior has now run for 4,396 yards this season. That's more than Henry ever ran for in a season at Yulee (Florida), at 4,261 yards.

If McLaughlin breaks Henry's career mark, he'll do it by setting a new national single-season rushing record, as well.

If Knox keeps winning, McLaughlin can really do this.
