Defending champion Jannik Sinner of Italy, who is also fighting to keep his World No. 1 ranking this tournament, will face Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime in the US Open semifinals on Friday.
The Italian advanced to the last four stage after beating fellow countryman Lorenzo Musetti 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals. In the process, he tied Nicola Pietrangeli's record for joint-most grand slam match victories by an Italian at 86 wins.
Sinner has now won the last three hard-court majors and extended his winning streak at those events to 26, just one behind Novak Djokovic's 27 and Roger Federer's all-time best of 40.

A win over the Canadian would set up a final against either Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz -- with Sinner needing to outperform Alcaraz at the Flushing Meadows to hold on to his top ranking.
Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime is the dark horse among the semifinalists. He booked his last-four spot by beating Australia's Alex de Minaur 4-6, 7-6, 7-5, 7-6 in a tense quarterfinal clash.
The Canadian holds a winning record against Sinner, thanks to victories in Madrid and Cincinnati in 2022 but the Italian has since stepped up on the big stage. In their most recent meeting just weeks ago in Cincinnati, Sinner breezed past Auger-Aliassime with a 6-2, 6-0 scoreline.
