Real Madrid star reveals role under Xabi Alonso ahead of Club World Cup semifinal image

Real Madrid booked their spot in the semifinal of the FIFA Club World Cup after defeating Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in the quarterfinal on July 5.

After an underwhelming run in the 2024/25 season, Real Madrid have picked up the pace in the competition under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Los Blancos are on an undefeated streak at the Club World Cup, with four wins and one draw so far, before their biggest test against PSG.

Ahead of their clash with the UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham has opened up about his role under Alonso's management, and the plans for 2025/26.

What did Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham say on Alonso?

Bellingham told Real Madrid TV his priority is to help the team, irrespective of which position he plays in. The 22-year-old spoke about the 'renewed enthusiasm from the new coach,'.

"It's different because every game I feel fortunate to be able to tactically analyze how I've played. I have different roles in the same game. I have defensive responsibilities and different ones with the ball. Every game is an opportunity to play differently. I like looking at the line up and figuring out where I'm playing," as per GOAL.

"I like that. As I've always said, I'll do whatever it takes for the team, no matter what position I play. One of my strengths is I can play in different positions, and I like the coaches to see that in me. I can fulfil any role for them. I feel good, I can play comfortably. I want to make the team play well."

"We're a team that enjoys playing, as always, but especially with the new ideas and renewed enthusiasm from the new coach and his staff. We're in a good place, and I'm enjoying this new phase."

The upcoming Club World Cup semifinal match can also potentially be a significant one for Bellingham individually as it marks the Englishman's 100th game for Real Madrid.

Bellingham, who arrived at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu from Borussia Dortmund back in 2023, has registered  tally of 38 goals and 28 assists in 99 appearances for Real Madrid so far.
