Real Madrid continue to make moves to bolster their squad for the years ahead and the new name on their radar - according to The Star on Sunday - is 2024 Ballon d’Or winner Rodri.
Los Blancos are reportedly preparing a £130m [$175m] offer for the Manchester City midfielder in 2026.
Rodri has been vital player for Pep Guardiola's side, and his influence at City is difficult to overstate as the rhythm-setter in City's engine system since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for £62m [$83m].
During that period, the Spain international has lifted 11 major trophies - including the Treble in 2023 - as part of the defining chapter in Guardiola’s era in Manchester.
Man City prepare plan to block Real Madrid move
City are aware of Real Madrid’s interest and the club hierarchy are reportedly planning to open talks with Rodri over a new long-term contract.

Chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak is adamant over retaining Rodri, with a significant wage increase to persuade him to stay, and a renewal would keep him at Etihad Stadium beyond 2027.
City intend to reassure 29-year-old about the project's future especially given uncertainty around Guardiola’s next steps.
If Guardiola leaves at the end of his contract it could alter Rodri’s perception of his long-term role at City.
