Nigeria's dreams of taking part in the 2026 World Cup are still alive.
But there's still quite the journey to go for the Super Eagles.
They kept their chances alive with a wild win on Thursday. Taking on Gabon in the CAF World Cup playoff semifinal, Nigeria held a late 1-0 lead, gave it up, then won 4-1 in extra time.
The victory pushes the Super Eagles into the CAF playoff final.
The winner of the final, which will be played Sunday, advances to the inter-continental playoffs. It's from that stage that Nigeria could then seize a spot in the World Cup group stage. Two teams will advance from the March inter-continental playoffs.
First, Nigeria has to win the African qualifying tournament on Sunday.

Who does Nigeria play next?
Nigeria will play the winner of Thursday's other CAF playoff semifinal.
That match pitted Cameroon against the Democratic Republic of the Congo and kicked off after the Nigeria match with Gabon concluded.
The DR Congo won that match with a goal in the first minute of second-half stoppage time when Chancel Mbemba netted to advance to the final.
Everything is being played in Morocco, so Nigeria will be sticking around either way before taking on a fellow African nation for the right to advance to the inter-continental playoff.
The World Cup will be held next summer in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Nigeria has played in six World Cups. They first qualified in 1994, then as well in 1998, 2002, 2010, 2014 and 2018.
The Super Eagles missed out on the last edition, in 2022, and are trying to make it back.
