With the Premier League season winding down, Southampton look increasingly destined to be remembered for all the wrong reasons, while Manchester City arrive at St Mary's Stadium hoping to put a frustrating campaign behind them with a strong finish.

For the Saints, it's been a harrowing month that reads like a textbook case of relegation form. A 3-0 dismantling by Aston Villa began the downward spiral, followed by a heart-wrenching loss to Fulham where they let a lead slip through their fingers.

But perhaps the most telling blow came last weekend, when they offered little resistance in a limp 2-0 defeat to fellow basement dwellers Leicester City, arguably their most damaging result yet.

Meanwhile, City are finding their form at the perfect time. Having been hovering just below the European qualification spots in recent weeks, Pep Guardiola's side are now flying up the table and suddenly a top-three finish, which looked a long way off, is a possibility thanks to a timely return to form.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Southampton vs. Man City predicted lineups, team news

Southampton are once again likely to be without the injured pair of Albert Gronbaek and Charlie Taylor as they prepare to host Manchester City. Paul Onuachu, who made an impact off the bench in the second half against Leicester last weekend, is expected to spearhead the attack from the outset this time.

The Saints enjoy the rare advantage of a fully fit squad otherwise, but aside from Onuachu's anticipated inclusion, interim manager Simon Rusk isn't expected to ring too many changes to his lineup.

Southampton predicted lineup (3-4-2-1, right to left): Ramsdale (GK) — Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Stephens — Walker-Peters, Downes, Ugochukwu, Manning — Fernandes, Sulemana — Stewart.

Injured: Gronbaek, Taylor.
Suspended: None.

For the visitors, star striker Erling Haaland is pushing for a return to the starting XI after making the bench in City's narrow 1-0 win over Wolves last weekend. His inclusion could see Bernardo Silva drop out, with Kevin De Bruyne shifting into his more familiar role behind the striker.

Pep Guardiola will be without Rodri, John Stones, and Nathan Ake, but otherwise has a strong squad at his disposal as City aim to maintain momentum.

Man City predicted lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): Ederson (GK) — Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O'Reilly — Silva, Kovacic — Marmoush, De Bruyne, Doku — Haaland.

Injured: Ake, Stones (thigh), Rodri (ACL), Rodri.
Suspended: None.
