A winless Manchester United will be looking for their first win in the 2025/26 Premier League season when they host the newly promoted Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils suffered a horrific exit in the EFL Cup to League Two side Grimsby Town, 12-11 on penalties after the game ended in a 2-2 draw. It was the first time United have been knocked out of the competition by a fourth-tier club.
Ruben Amorim's side reached a new low with the defeat. They aren't faring any better in the league either -- sitting on 16th -- having picked up just a single point in the opening two matches after a 1-0 loss to Arsenal and a 1-1 draw against Fulham last weekend.
Meanwhile, Burnley are 11th in the PL standings with three points after beating Sunderland 2-0 at Turf Moor last Saturday. The Clarets have proven to be stubborn opponents for the Red Devils, with one win, four losses, and four draws in visits to Old Trafford in the Premier League era.
United's current struggles at home also remain a concern, having lost eight of their last 13 PL games at the Theatre of Dreams. The Clarets defender and former Manchester City star Kyle Walker has enjoyed visits to Old Trafford, recording wins on six occasions: the joint-most for any player along with James Milner and David Silva.
Even then, the Red Devils will be confident given their strong record against newly promoted sides, riding on a 23-game winning streak extending back to November 2021.

Man United vs. Burnley lineups, team news
United's injury list remains short. Lisandro Martinez, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury back in February, and Noussair Mazraoui, who has been sidelined since sustaining a thigh problem during United's opening preseason friendly against Leeds United, are almost certainly out.
Considering their humiliating defeat against Grimsby Town, Amorim is expected to take no risks and have his key players on the pitch in hopes of securing a much-needed win.
While making his first appearance of the season in the EFL Cup, Andre Onana made some significant errors in goal and may be benched in favour of Altay Bayindir.
Manchester United predicted XI (3-4-2-1, right to left): Bayindir (GK) — Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw — Amad, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dorgu — Mbuemo, Cunha — Sesko
Injured: Noussair Mazraoui (ACL), Lisandro Martinez (knock, doubt)
Suspended: None
While they have not suffered any new issues this month, Burnley still have outstanding injuries in the squad. Benson Manuel has been out with Achilles tendon problems since last season, and Zeki Amdouni sustained a cruciate ligament tear in July.
The Clarets' backline is missing Bashir Humphreys, who is facing thigh problems, and Connor Roberts, who suffered a groin injury in June. Jordan Beyer has been sidelined with a hamstring injury, with a possibility of returning next month.
Armando Broja is also missing due to fitness issues.
The Clarets' lineup is expected to be the same as their 2-0 win against Sunderland in the league last week.
Burnley predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Dubravka (GK) — Walker, Ekdal, Esteve, Hartman — Ugochukwu, Cullen — Larsen, Hannibal, Anthony — Foster
Injured: Benson Manuel, Bashir Humphreys, Jordan Beyer, Zeki Amdouni, Armando Broja, Connor Roberts
Suspended: None
