Lionel Messi scored a brace and provided an assist in Inter Miami's 4-2 victory against CF Montreal in Major League Soccer, putting an end to the Herons' winless streak.

This win over Montreal on May 28 was an important one for Inter Miami, who have been slipping up in the MLS rankings and have been on the receiving end of heavy criticism for their recent performances.

With these two goals and one assist at Chase Stadium, Messi also became the first player in Inter Miami's history to produce 50 goal contributions (29 goals and 21 assists) in regular season play in 37 matches.

Following the win, Inter Miami head coach Javier Mascherano heaped praise on Messi, claiming that the Argentine icon 'makes everything look easy' with his exceptional efforts on the pitch.

What did Inter Miami boss say about Lionel Messi?

Mascherano spoke about (comments via FotMob) how Messi continues to impact the squad and how his positive competitive attitude pushes the players to improve.

"He makes everything look easy. He has accustomed us to that at this stage of his career. I always try to focus not just on what he does, but on his desire to play. Because at the end of the day, you see how contagious he is, how competitive he is, and it reflects," said the Argentine manager.

"All of us have to see ourselves in that reflection. That's the player that we have to follow because he shows us the way to be able to compete in a very good way. The team is united, they want to get out of this situation. Everybody is pulling in the same direction," he concluded.

Messi & Co. will be facing Columbus Crew in their next MLS clash on May 31, at Chase Stadium.
