Tottenham Hotspur are set to host Southampton in a Premier League clash in North London this Sunday.

Ange Postecoglou appeared to gesture toward the Tottenham fans, cupping his ears in a provocative manner after Pape Matar Sarr looked to have drawn Spurs level against Chelsea midweek—only for the goal to be chalked off for a foul. Tottenham ultimately slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge, extending their struggles in what has been a frustrating Premier League campaign.

That loss marked Spurs' 16th league defeat in 30 matches this season, a worrying trend that highlights their inconsistency. Despite domestic woes, they still have a UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie against Eintracht Frankfurt to provide some hope.

As for Southampton, relegation could become a mathematical certainty this weekend. If the Saints fall to defeat and Wolves secure three points at Ipswich Town, their fate will be sealed. Currently sitting just one point above Derby County’s infamous record-low tally of 11 Premier League points, Southampton's season teeters on the brink of ignominy.

They came agonizingly close to a rare win in midweek, with Paul Onuachu firing them ahead in the 20th minute against Crystal Palace at St Mary’s. But Matheus Franca's dramatic equalizer deep into stoppage time denied them, leaving the south coast club with just a single point once again.

The Sporting News looks at the key details ahead of this game, including how to watch the match, kickoff times and the latest lineup news.

Tottenham vs. Southampton lineups, team news

Ange Postecoglou will look to make some changes for the weekend match, keeping in mind Tottenham's next Europa League game against Frankfurt. That might allow Pape Matar Sarr, Brennan Johnson, and Mathys Tel more of a chance, and Son Heung-min a chance to take a break.

On the injury front, Spurs got some good news with Micky van de Ven escaping any real problems in Thursday's loss—his late-game pain was nothing more than cramp, and he'll be fit to play on Sunday.

Richarlison is also in line to come back from a calf injury by starting up training again, although it's too early to say for sure if he'll play. Radu Dragusin (ACL), Dejan Kulusevski (foot), and Kevin Danso (hamstring) are still out.

Tottenham predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Vicario (GK) —  Porro, Romero, Gray, Udogie — Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison — Johnson, Solanke, Tel.

Injured: Richarlison (doubtful), Radu Dragusin (ACL), Dejan Kulusevski (foot),  Kevin Danso (hamstring)
Suspended: None

Southampton's campaign has deteriorated further, and they will miss Flynn Downes for Sunday's match after the midfielder received his 10th yellow card of the season during their Crystal Palace draw.

His ban is added to a list already full of cause for concern with Juan Larios and Ross Stewart both out with fitness issues, while Will Smallbone, who has been nursing a groin problem, is due to resume training in the near future.

As if things would not get bad enough, Paul Onuachu is still a big question mark after going out with an ankle injury last outing. In other news, Lesley Ugochukwu and Ryan Manning also had to be withdrawn from action, although they are not dealing with huge issues.

As options are at a premium, Cameron Archer now appears likely to spearhead the attack in the North London outing, with Joe Aribo and Yukinari Sugawara competing for the starting places in the lineup.

Southampton predicted XI (3-4-1-2, right to left): Ramsdale (GK) —  Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Bella-Kotchap — Sugawara, Aribo, Ugochukwu, Walker-Peters — Fernandes — Archer, Dibling.

Injured: Juan Larios, Ross Stewart, Will Smallbone, Paul Onuachu
Suspended: Flynn Downes
