Tottenham Hotspur kick off their 2025/26 Premier League season at home to promoted Burnley on Saturday.
Spurs come into the match still feeling the sting of their UEFA Super Cup defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in midweek. Thomas Frank's side were minutes away from lifting their second European trophy in four months but lost on penalties after a 2-2 draw in which they gave up two late goals in normal time.
Last season's 17th-place finish means Tottenham have plenty to prove, but history is on their side: they have won both previous opening-day home matches against promoted teams. However, their defense remains a concern, with no clean sheets in their last 13 league games.
Burnley return to the top flight after an outstanding Championship campaign under Scott Parker, where they conceded just 16 goals all season. But life in the Premier League is a different challenge. The Clarets have not won any of their past nine away matches against Spurs, and they have lost their previous three season openers in the top division.
With Spurs aiming to start strong and Burnley looking to shock the hosts, Saturday's clash promises early-season intrigue in North London.

Tottenham vs. Burnley lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injury latest
Tottenham will again be without a long list of injured players for Saturday's opener. James Maddison, Radu Dragusin, Kota Takai, Manor Solomon, Dejan Kulusevski, and Bryan Gil are all sidelined. Destiny Udogie has a chance of playing, but he is a major doubt.
Yves Bissouma was left out of the Super Cup squad by Thomas Frank due to repeated lateness, and it is unclear if he will be recalled.
On a positive note, Dominic Solanke returned from an ankle injury in midweek and is expected to start as Spurs switch to a more attacking lineup.
Tottenham predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Vicario (GK) — Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Spence — Bentancur, Palhinha — Kudus, Bergvall, Johnson — Solanke

Dubravka could debut if fit, while Kyle Walker is set to face his former club. Armando Broja may not be risked from the start.
