Manchester City face a historic night as they prepare to take on Inter Milan in the 2022/23 Champions League final.

Pep Guardiola is chasing a first ever Champions League title in Manchester as part of a potential treble this season after winning the Premier League and FA Cup.

The Catalan boss has shut down rumours of him 'over thinking' his tactics and team selection en route to the final, although he will need to make some key calls ahead of the clash with Internazionale in Istanbul on Saturday.

The summer arrival of Erling Haaland has forced a system change from Guardiola and the Norwegian goal machine will be crucial for City in the final.

Man City team news ahead of Champions League final

Guardiola has accepted his team are favourites in Istanbul, but the former Barcelona boss will not be hung up by their 2021 final defeat to Chelsea, with history potentially just 90 minutes away.

"In that moment we were just preparing a final, we'd lost two times against Tuchel's Chelsea and had some doubts," he said.

"We accept our role as favourites and go there knowing the quality of the opponents. We accept what people say, with no problem."

City have seven days to prepare for the final, after beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final and Guardiola has some concern over Kyle Walker's fitness.

"Today he was a little bit better," said the City boss on Tuesday. "We didn't want to take a risk (on a back injury) and we will see how he is in the next days."

Walker is likely to be Guardiola's only injury doubt, with Nathan Ake back fit, and Guardiola is sure on the majority of his team, as part of a 3-2-4-1 system.

Ederson is undisputed as No.1 choice in goal, with Manuel Akanj and Ruben Dias set as two of the back three for Guardiola.

Ake's injury saw him miss the two semifinal ties against Real Madrid, with Walker coming in, but the Dutch star is ready to start the final. Walker served a double function against Los Blancos, in covering for Ake and offering a direct marker for Vinicius Jr, but Inter do not carry that threat in attacking wide areas.

The other seven spots have been filled by the same players for City's past five Champions League outings, and Guardiola will surely stick with that combination for the Inter game.

Rodri and John Stones have formed a strong partnership as a defensive midfield pivot, with a line of four including Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish, behind Haaland.

Guardiola will have plenty of options off the bench in Istanbul and he is ready to utilise his squad once again this season if changes are needed, with Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Julian Alvarez among his attacking impact players.
