Liverpool vs. Everton lineups: Predicted starting XI, team news, injury latest as Slot makes Isak Merseyside derby decision image

Liverpool and Everton lock horns in the first Merseyside derby of the 2025/26 Premier League season on September 20.

The Reds have been in superb form in the opening weeks of the campaign with four wins from four games and a dramatic 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid in their UEFA Champions League opener.

Arne Slot's side have made a habit to scoring late winners in recent weeks with six goals scored after the 88-minute mark this season.

However, visitors Everton have also been impressive under David Moyes, with their new Hill Dickinson Stadium a fortress with three home games unbeaten so far.

A trip back across the city poses a step up in challenge for Moyes with the Toffees losing their last four league clashes at Anfield without a goal scored.

Slot's main call focuses on what to do with Alexander Isak after the Premier League record transfer made his Liverpool debut against Atletico Madrid.

The Dutch coach has confirmed he is not ready for 90 minutes against Everton, but after claiming he could only manage 45 against Diego Simeone's team, the Swede was not replaced until just before the hour.

Hugo Ekitike looks set to rotate back in, as Slot aims to protect Isak and allow his No. 9 to build up match fitness with a role off the bench.

Full-backs Jeremie Frimpong and Andy Robertson were both replaced against Los Rojiblancos, but the Scot should remain in place due to his derby experience. Conor Bradley will come in for Frimpong if the Netherlands international is moved to the bench.

Liverpool predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1): Alisson (GK) — Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson — Gravenberch, Mac Allister — Salah, Wirtz, Gakpo — Ekitike

Injured: Jones (muscle)
Suspended: None

Moyes is still without key centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite due to a thigh injury, with James Tarkowski and Michael Keane set to continue at the heart of Everton's defence.

Vitalii Mykolenko missed out on last weekend's 0-0 draw with Aston Villa after sustaining an injury on international duty with Ukraine, but Moyes is confident he can rotate back in.

Everton predicted starting XI (4-2-3-1): Pickford (GK) — O'Brien, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko — Iroegbunam, Gueye — Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish — Beto

Injured: Branthwaite (thigh), Mykolenko (muscle, doubt)
Suspended: None
