Leeds United will look to return to winning ways when they host Newcastle United at Elland Road on Saturday, August 30 in matchweek three of the Premier League 2025/26 campaign.
Little has gone right for Daniel Farke's men since their opening week 1-0 win over Everton. The Whites were mauled by Arsenal last weekend and they also lost to Sheffield Wednesday on penalties in the mid-week Carabao Cup fixture.
On the other hand, Newcastle were heartbroken as they suffered a 3-2 defeat at home against Liverpool courtesy of a late goal from teenager Rio Ngumoha. The Magpies showed exceptional heart and courage to make it 2-2 from 2-0 down with 10 men after Anthony Gordon got sent off in the first half.
Despite their best efforts, it was not enough, and therefore Eddie Howe's men are still searching for their first win of the new campaign.

Leeds United vs. Newcastle United lineups: Confirmed starting XI, team news, injury latest
Farke shuffled the starting lineup in the Carabao Cup fixture against Sheffield Wednesday after Leeds suffered a 5-0 defeat against Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend.
New signing Noah Okafor received his first start with Lukas Nmecha leading the line, but it still couldn't help them from crashing out of the tournament after losing on penalties. Nmecha keeps his place today.
However, the most concerning factor ahead of this game is injuries to midfield duo Ao Tanaka and Ethan Ampadu. Neither is available, but former Newcastle favourite Sean Longstaff faces his former club.
Leeds United starting XI (4-3-3, right to left): Perri (GK) — Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundson — Longstaff, Stach, Gruev — James, Nmecha, Gnonto
Injured: Tanaka (knee), Ampadu (knee)
Suspended: None
Eddie Howe came into the weekend with a variety of selection issues that appear to have prompted a change in formation to 3-4-3.
Anthony Gordon is suspended as he got sent off against Liverpool for his reckless challenge on Virgil van Dijk. Midfielders Sandro Tonali and Joelinton suffered injuries in that game but the Italy playmaker has recovered from his shoulder complaint to start.

Fabian Schar is available despite suffering a blow to the head against Liverpool and joins Sven Botman and Dan Burn in the back three.
Meanwhile, there's no progress on the Alexander Isak situation as the Sweden striker continues to seek an exit before Monday's transfer deadline.
Jacob Ramsey makes his first start in Newcastle's front three alongside young Danish striker William Osula and Harvey Barnes
Newcastle United starting XI (3-4-3, right to left): Pope (GK) — Schar, Botman, Burn — Trippier, Tonali, Guimaraes, Livramento — Ramsey, Osula, Barnes
Injured: Joelinton (hip)
Suspended: Gordon
Unavailable: Isak
