Ipswich vs. Man City lineups, starting 11, confirmed team news, injuries: Delap to face former club image

Just when Pep Guardiola thought his team was getting back on track, they dropped points from a seemingly unassailable position.

Manchester City continue to provide a heap of surprises in this season's Premier League and their recent 2-2 draw at Brentford was the latest example.

City were cruising at 2-0 thanks to a Phil Foden brace but conspired to concede two goals in the final minutes to succumb to yet another disappointing result. Now, their attentions must turn to a trip to Ipswich Town, who have upset some of the big boys this season.

AllSportsPeople has the latest team news for the game at Portman Road, which is on Sunday 19th January.

Manchester City loanee Kalvin Phillips is ineligible for Ipswich as he cannot play against his parent club.

Forwards Sammie Szmodics and Omari Hutchinson both have knocks but the latter is fit to start. Meanwhile, Conor Chaplin  and Chiedozie Ogbene are among the long-term absentees for Kieran McKenna's men. Former Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe  returns to the bench.

In-form striker Liam Delap  leads the Tractor Boys' line against his former employers.

City, of course, have key midfielder Rodri out in the long term and have been battling various other injury issues this season – causing headaches for Guardiola. John Stones remains sidelined and Nathan Ake  is absent from the matchday squad, although Ruben Dias  is back from a muscular injury to start in the back four for the first time in over a month.

Ederson  is back in goal in place of Stefan Ortega, while captain Kyle Walker  has been left behind again after expressing a desire to leave City in this transfer window.

Savinho  has been in fine form lately but looked fatigued during the closing stages at Brentford and Jeremy Doku  gets the chance to impress on the left wing.

Man City lineup (4-3-3, right to left): Ederson (GK) —Nunes, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol — De Bruyne, Kovacic, Gundogan— Foden, Haaland, Doku.
