Bayern Munich produced a sensational performance against Chelsea in their Champions League curtain raiser as they finished with a 3-1 win at home on Wednesday night.
The Bavarians looked really good and had chances to add a couple of more goals but courtesy of Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez's exceptional performance, the Blues avoided humiliation.
Harry Kane registered another brace while the other goal was an own goal from Trevoh Chalobah. Chelsea's only goal was scored by Cole Palmer.
However, in the 61st minute Josip Stanisic suffered a knock and was duly replaced by Sacha Boey and though the Croatian seemed alright after the game, the Bavarians have confirmed that it is worse than expected.
Bayern Munich issued a medical report on their social media handles on Thursday stating the severity of Stanisic's injury.
The Croatia international has suffered a partial tear on his interior ligament on his right knee and will be unavailable for the upcoming few games.

Interestingly, this leaves Bayern Munich with no designated left-backs in their lineup with the likes of Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito are back in training following their long-term injuries but will take time to return to full fitness.
On the other hand, Raphael Guerreiro is also out with some issues in his stomach muscles, and his return is unknown.
When will Josip Stanisic return to action for Bayern?
At first, it seemed like a natural contact injury as he collided with Malo Gusto mid air to win the ball as the commentator even predicted something like a dead leg.

Even Stanisic looked in much better shape after the game but after scans and tests, the Bayern Munich medical team found out it is much worse than how it looked.
According to BILD, the Bavarians are expecting the 25-year-old to remain on the sidelines for the next 2-3 weeks.
In this period, Sacha Boey will be given the nod at right-back while Konrad Laimer will play in a makeshift left-back role just like they played after Stanisic's injury against Chelsea.
Another unique option for Kompany would be to play Tom Bischof as left-back given he is left-footed and his ability to use half-spaces to his advantage while making overlapping runs.
It will be interestingly to see which way Kompany ventures in the upcoming Bundesliga match against Hoffenheim on Saturday, September 20 at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim.
