Benjamin Sesko reveals why he joined Man Utd after contract signed image

Manchester United have completed the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, ending weeks of speculation about the striker’s future.

The deal, worth an initial €76.5 million plus €8.5 million in add-ons, brings the 22-year-old Slovenia international to Old Trafford on a contract until June 2030.

United had to fend off Newcastle United, who reportedly made the first approach. But the Red Devils moved quickly, agreed personal terms, and convinced Sesko that Manchester was the place to be.

And according to the striker, the decision wasn’t just about history — it was about what’s next.

“The history of Manchester United is obviously very special but what really excites me is the future,” Sesko explained (via official Manchester United website).

He added that the club’s project and “positive energy” convinced him this was “the perfect place to reach my maximum level.”

Man Utd’s director of football comments on Benjamin Sesko signing

United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, could not hide his excitement over the move. “Benjamin possesses a rare combination of electrifying pace and the ability to physically dominate defenders,” Wilcox said.

“We have followed Benjamin’s career closely… all of our analysis concluded he has the qualities and personality to thrive at Manchester United.”

The numbers back up the hype. Over the past two seasons, Sesko has scored more goals than any other player under 23 in Europe’s top five leagues. Last season alone, he found the net 21 times and provided six assists for Leipzig.

For United, this is not just a signing — it’s a statement. The squad is being reshaped under Ruben Amorim, and Sesko’s arrival adds firepower to a side aiming to challenge again for the Premier League and Europe’s biggest prizes.

With his aerial ability, quick feet, and knack for finding space, Sesko will be expected to hit the ground running. If he does, Old Trafford could have a new fan favorite — and maybe even a few new goal chants by Christmas.
