Manchester City are set to return to Premier League action by hosting Everton at Etihad Stadium on October 18.
Pep Guardiola's squad maintained an undefeated streak in their last four league games, and are currently ranked fifth in the top flight with 13 points in seven matches.
Now, ahead of their upcoming match on Saturday, there is some bad news for the Cityzens with regards to 2024 Ballon d'Or winner Rodri.
Rodri suffered a cruciate ligament tear in September last year and was sidelined for over 200 days, missing 53 games for club and country. His recent return to the pitch has involved some minor setbacks amid his struggles to regain consistency.
Rodri was seen hobbling off the pitch within the first 20 minutes of Man City's match against Brentford prior to the recent international break. Speaking after their 1-0 win over the Bees on October 5, the Spanish midfielder addressed his early substitution and told Sky Sports,
"I'm good. I felt a little bit in the hamstring but it seems like it's not that much. The important thing was the victory. I stretched the leg a little bit, a bit like in the Euros final. I stretched a little bit but it's part of the process," as per GOAL.

"I don't feel that I feel tired muscle wise, I feel fresh but the most important thing is it's not that big. It's part of the process. The good thing about this is you get out, you don't let the muscle stretch now. The good thing is the break so it will be even better in this sense to recover these days and hopefully I can be in the next game."
Following the knock against Brentford, Rodri also missed two World Cup qualifiers for Spain.
Now, Guardiola has confirmed that the 29-year-old star will not be available for Man City's upcoming game against Everton.
What did Man City boss Pep Guardiola say about Rodri?
During his pre-match press conference, Guardiola addressed Rodri's situation and told reporters,
"No news. He is not ready for tomorrow. I don't know when he will be back," as per BBC Sport.
It remains to be seen if Rodri is able to return to the pitch for Man City's third Champions League match of the season against La Liga club Villarreal on October 21 at Estadi de la Ceramica.
