Manchester City are facing fresh uncertainty around Bernardo Silva’s long-term future with Spanish outlet AS stating that his contract has not been renewed.

The Portuguese midfielder who was signed from Monaco in 2017 is under contract until June 2026 but no agreement on an extension has been reached and this has left the Pep Guardiola’s side monitoring the situation carefully as European interest grows.

Silva [as of September 13] has delivered 269 Premier League appearances, contributing 43 goals and 46 assists.

In Europe, he has 78 Champions League games with 14 goals.

Last season he featured 33 times in the EPL, scoring four and assisting four.

Juventus and Benfica show interest in Portugal's star

Reportedly, Juventus are monitoring the situation closely with Jorge Mendes playing a decisive role in negotiations.

The agent, who represents Silva, strengthened ties with Juventus during the summer transfer of Francisco Conceicao and is expected to use that relationship in potential talks.

Silva will be as an experienced addition capable of raising the level of a Turin based side that has lacked major signings in recent years.

Benfica, the club where Silva began his career are also exploring the possibility of a return.

Reportedly, Benfica would welcome the move for emotional and sporting reasons but their financial structure could make it difficult to match the wages available in Serie A.
