His rapid rise from Valencia’s reserves to a first-team regular has drawn interest not only from Liverpool but also Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
Valencia, however, have placed a high price tag on their young star and are unwilling to negotiate below €50m [$58m].
The Premier League champions are also monitoring Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace for next summer, but if that move fails again, Tarrega is viewed as the ideal alternative.
