Alejandro Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United over the weekend.

However, the move has been overshadowed by the controversial win against Fulham and the transfer drama surrounding Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich.

The Argentine international was linked with a move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer, and it finally materialised just before the transfer window shut.

Soon after joining the Blues, Garnacho spoke to the official Chelsea website and shared his excitement about the move.

Just after his move to Chelsea was announced last week, old pictures of Garnacho in a Chelsea kit started doing the rounds on social media, and the winger was quick to address them after signing for his new club.

During his introduction as a Chelsea player, Garnacho also shed light on the role his compatriot played in helping him move to Stamford Bridge.

Speaking to the Chelsea website after his unveiling, Garnacho said, “I loved Eden Hazard. Eden was one of my idols and a big reason why I watched and supported Chelsea a bit when I was younger.

“He was such an incredible player, playing in the same position that I wanted to, coming inside, scoring goals – he was crazy good.”

Garnacho also highlighted the role Enzo Fernandez played in convincing him to join Chelsea.

“I spoke to Enzo during the summer because he had been asking a lot of times, ‘When are you coming? When are you coming?’

“I kept saying that he had to be patient, and we would play together. He texted me when I joined to say congratulations, and I can’t wait to see him and play together. I had to be patient too, but now I can’t wait to get started.”

Garnacho and Fernandez share a good rapport on the pitch, and they played a key role in leading Argentina to the World Cup crown in 2022.

Together, the duo will be looking to replicate that kind of success for Chelsea as well.
