Spain are set to face Georgia in their upcoming World Cup qualifier on October 11 at Estadio Martínez Valero.
La Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente has a great pool of talented players to select his squad for the World Cup next year, and now, the Spanish manager hinted at a possible return to the national team for Barcelona's Ansu Fati.
Fati, who was once considered Lionel Messi's successor at Barcelona, started off his senior career at the Catalan club with great displays of potential, which was hindered by a meniscus injury in 2019, followed by several setbacks and an ineffective loan spell to Brighton in 2023.
Back in July this year, Fati was loaned to Monaco for the entirety of the 2025/26 campaign with an option to buy, and as it appears, the La Masia graduate is gradually returning to his stride there.
Fati recently became the fastest player to net five goals on debut in Ligue 1, achieving the milestone in just 126 minutes on the pitch. With this feat, the 22-year-old star surpassed Johan Audel, who broke the record in 137 minutes in the 2007–08 season, followed by Emmanuel Riviere, who achieved the same in 174 minutes also for Monaco in the 2013–14 season.
With six goals in five matches across competitions for Monaco, Fati seemed to have caught De la Fuente's eyes, with the 64-year-old mentioning that the winger 'is on the list.'

What did the Spain boss say about Barcelona's Ansu Fati?
Speaking in the pre-match conference, De la Fuente addressed Fati's recent form and said,
"Ansu Fati was on our team list before being called up. We're monitoring all the players who could be in the national team. He's scored five or six goals, and we've assessed him," as per GOAL.
"What I can't confirm is that if there's someone missing, he'll be replaced. But of course, Ansu is on the list, and that's interesting."
With a good chance of returning to the national squad soon, Fati will be looking forward to increasing his goal contributions in Monaco's next league game against Angers SCO on October 18.
