Robert Lewandowski has been linked with the Chicago Fire in the past. However, another MLS team is now reportedly interested in the Polish striker.

Lewandowski is now 37, and it appears increasingly unlikely that Barcelona will take up their option to extend his contract by another year.

His current deal expires at the end of the season, so any move to MLS would likely happen following its expiration.

Lewandowski would want to continue competing at the highest level ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and Barcelona does not currently have a ready-made replacement.

The World Cup next year is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, so Lewandowski could then play his club football in North America following the tournament.

The striker is still proving that he can compete at the highest level. He has scored four goals in seven La Liga games this campaign. However, he is yet to find the net in the Champions League.

Is it time for Robert Lewandowski to head to MLS?

The transfer expert Ekrem Konur posted on X: "Inter Miami is preparing a 2-year contract offer for Robert Lewandowski."

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, of course, spearhead Miami, so they could have a star front three if Lewandowski also joins the club.

The Herons will be wanting to add more star players to their squad with Jordi Alba and Luis Suarez retiring at the end of this campaign.

Messi being in MLS has been huge for the division, but they do need to win MLS Cup if his time in North America is to be deemed a success on the pitch.

Miami is currently in the playoffs, so they could win MLS Cup before Lewandowski potentially joins.
