Barcelona are cautiously managing the recovery of midfielder Gavi who is experiencing discomfort to his right knee once again.

The 21 year-old suffered a serious ACL injury in 2023 which kept him out of soccer for almost a year.

Gavi sat out the previous La Liga match against Rayo Vallecano because of discomfort to his knee and it is according to Mundo Deportivo, he underwent a full evaluation on September 12 at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper, this time accompanied by his family and agent.

After evaluation, it was reportedly agreed between Barcelona and the player to continue conservative treatment for another week.

If the discomfort persists surgery could be an option too with an absence of roughly five weeks expected.

While the midfielder is on the road to recovery the Barcelona coach believes he is the ‘heart of the team’.

What Hansi Flick said about Gavi?

Hansi Flick has expressed confidence in Gavi’s importance to the team, saying,

“I’ve said it several times before, but Gavi is the heart of this team. His mentality on the pitch, he gives his all and gives everything for the club”

The number back that too, according to Fbref’s last 365 days data-  Gavi has excelled in many facts, completing 65 passes per 90 at 89.8 percent accuracy, making 6.13 progressive passes and 3.10 shot-creating actions while contributing 2.60 tackles, 1.30 blocks, and 1.73 aerial wins.

“I was afraid that would happen in training after that serious injury he had. But I would say that all he has to do is work hard and not put too much pressure on himself. He has to come back and get fit. We need him to be confident about his knee and his body.”

Reportedly, the midfielder could be sidelined until mid-October, with Football Espana suggesting he might return for Barcelona’s clash against Girona on October 18.
