Another Camp Nou delay? Barcelona requests La Liga changes in upcoming home game image

FC Barcelona continues to work on soon having the team play at the Spotify Camp Nou this season. The club wants the team to play at the Camp Nou soon, with the first scheduled home game of the season being on September 14 against Valencia in La Liga.

The game is a few weeks away, yet there is worry that the development of the Camp Nou is once again taking too much time. Barcelona fears that the reopening of the stadium may not be in time for the match against Valencia.

UEFA officials reportedly were looking inside the stadium for more than four hours, and no official decision has been made on whether Barcelona can play at the Camp Nou in La Liga and in the Champions League as soon as next month.

Barcelona is already looking into potential returning home games at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium for a few months until the Camp Nou is ready.

With time running out, Barcelona is reportedly ready to request another away game in the league.

FC Barcelona's Request to La Liga

According to Sport, Barcelona has asked La Liga to make matchday 4 against Valencia an away game for them. The club wants the match to be played at Mestalla Stadium so the reverse fixture in May can be played at the Spotify Camp Nou.

The club wants more time for the stadium to be ready as soon as possible, but having the stadium ready by next month seems almost impossible.

Hansi Flick was asked about updates on home games being played at the Camp Nou or at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium. Flick was not concerned about the venue issues Barcelona is facing and is purely focused on the games.

Hansi Flick: "We are focused on Levante. Then on the next one. We have what we have. We change what is in our hands. I don’t think about whether we play at home or not."
