Barcelona set Liverpool star as 'main target' with transfer talks in place image

Barcelona may be short on cash, but they aren’t short on ambition. The Catalan giants have reportedly named Liverpool winger Luis Díaz as their top transfer target this summer.

And according to Sky Sport Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the first talks have already taken place.

The 28-year-old Colombian, known for his pace, trickery, and tireless work rate, is attracting plenty of interest. Saudi clubs remain keen, but it's Barcelona who appear most serious. There’s one catch — time.

Díaz has made it clear that he doesn’t want a long summer full of rumors.

Reports in Spain (backed via football365) say he’s told Barcelona they have until early July — the start of preseason — to get a deal done. It’s now or never for the Spanish club.

How much Barcelona will have to pay for Díaz?

Barcelona’s financial issues are no secret. With their La Liga spending cap tighter than a goalkeeper’s gloves, any big deal requires a few sales first.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are reportedly asking for around €85 million for Díaz — a fee that could stretch Barca’s limits.

Despite that, Díaz is said to be “excited” by the idea of joining Barcelona. According to Spanish media, he “would love to wear the shirt” and wants clarity soon to focus fully on the new season, wherever that may be.

The noise got louder after Díaz’s partner, Gera Ponce, posted an emotional message on Instagram that felt like a goodbye:

“From the first day we arrived, we felt first hand what it means to be a part of this club... There’s no doubt: they’re the best in the world.”

It’s not quite a confirmed transfer, but it sounds like the winger may already be preparing his final days at Anfield.
