Barcelona might be known for their passing game, but right now, they’re close to completing a different kind of move — a transfer one.
According to multiple reports in Spain (RAC1, backed by Fabrizio), the club is closing in on signing Joan Garcia from Espanyol in what would be their first addition of the summer.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper has been linked with a number of big clubs in recent weeks, including Premier League sides like Arsenal and Newcastle.
But Barcelona seem to have made the strongest push — and they’re now in pole position.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano gave fans the latest update, saying: “Barcelona are advancing on all formal steps for Joan García deal… not a done deal yet, but progressing well between all parties.”

How much will Barcelona pay for Joan Garcia?
If the deal is completed, Garcia is expected to join for around €25 million — the price of his release clause.
He’s already said yes to a five-year contract, according to sources close to the negotiations. Now, Barcelona just need to finalize the details with Espanyol.
What makes this move even more interesting is that Marc-Andre ter Stegen, the current No. 1 at Camp Nou, isn’t going anywhere. The German shot-stopper has made it clear that he plans to stay at the club next season.
So, what does that mean? A good old-fashioned battle for the gloves. If García joins, it will be a straight fight for the starting spot. And let’s be honest, it’s been a while since Camp Nou had this much competition in goal — no one’s catching breaks here, not even with gloves on.
Barcelona aren’t stopping at García either. Wojciech Szczęsny is also expected to stick around after agreeing to a contract extension.
Looks like the only thing hotter than the Spanish sun this summer will be the keeper rotation at Barca.
