Karim Adeyemi has re-emerged as a potential target for FC Barcelona, with reports in Germany suggesting the Catalan club are once again monitoring the Borussia Dortmund forward’s situation.

The five time Champions League winner first showed their interest in Adyemi when he was excelling for Red Bull Salzburg in 2021 but it was Dortmund who secured his signature a year later for over €30m [$35m].

Adeyemi has shown really strong form this season under Niko Kovac and has contributed 3 goals and 5 assists in 13 matches this season.

That resurgence has led Dortmund pushing to extend his contract beyond 2027 to 2029

Borussia Dortmund are weighing options for Barcelona target

According to the Bild relayed by Mundo Deportivo, if the player does not agree to fresh terms, the club could consider selling him next summer rather than risk entering the final year of his deal.

Barcelona, meanwhile, continue to search for young, versatile forwards who could strengthen Hansi Flick’s evolving attack.

Adeyemi’s ability to operate on both wings which when combined with his speed makes him an appealing fit.

However, Dortmund’s valuation of around €80m [$93m] could present a significant challenge for Barcelona whose financial issues have restricted spending in recent transfer windows.

Last summer, the Catalan side spent less than €30m [$35m], bringing in goalkeeper Joan Garcia and winger Roony Bardghji, along with a loan move for Marcus Rashford. The club however is reportedly optimistic that its financial situation will improve by 2026, allowing more freedom in the market.
