Chloe Kim is set to chase Olympic snowboarding history next month.
That is, if her new injury isn't enough to keep her out of competition.
Kim shared in a new Instagram video that she dislocated her shoulder.
"Ugh, I hate that I have to make this video, but I felt that it was necessary, so here we go," Kim said. "I've been here for a couple of days. I'm currently in Switzerland, and on my second day of training, I took the silliest fall."
That's when she showed a video of an awkward fall into the ramp in which she fell uncomfortably on her arm.
"I think I don't have much clarity right now because I haven't gotten an MRI yet, but that's scheduled for tomorrow," Kim said. "So anyways, I should have a better idea of what's going on tomorrow."
Kim has won the last two Winter Olympics gold medals in the women's halfpipe. No one has three-peated in that event before.
"I feel really good about where my snowboarding is at right now, so I know that the minute I get cleared and I'm good to go, I should be fine," Kim said. "I'm just hoping that doesn't take too long."
The Opening Ceremonies for the Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina are scheduled for February 6. Kim has about a month to heal up.
If she isn't able to recover in time, it'll open up the field entirely to someone new to impress and claim a gold medal of their own.
Of course, Kim would much prefer to be back out there and defend her medals. She'll surely do everything she can to make that happen.
