Laila Edwards is on the verge of making Olympic history.
Edwards is the first Black woman to represent the United States women's hockey team at the Olympics.
The 21-year old has a cool hometown connection with a couple of NFL legends, too.
Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason, are both from Cleveland Heights, Ohio. So is Edwards.
The brothers have done Edwards a solid since she made the team.
The Wisconsin Badgers star began a GoFundMe to raise funds for her family to be able to go to Italy and support her.
The Kelce brothers gave a donation.
"They've helped out with my family's GoFundMe to go over there and support me," Edwards told PEOPLE. "My family put up a GoFundMe, and [Travis] donated... He's been in touch a little bit on how else he can help. So I mean, those are just really good guys. They're really good people, too, outside of their athletic abilities."
Edwards is one of the best women's hockey players in the world.
In 2024, she won the USA Hockey Women's Player of the Year honor.
She was also MVP at the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship, leading all scorers in the tourney with six goals.
She won two national championships with the Badgers, too.
Now, she's heading to the Olympics as a history maker seeking a gold medal, with a little help from the Kelce brothers.
