The latest blockbuster NHL contract extension has reportedly been agreed upon via insider Darren Dreger as the Vegas Golden Knights have extended Jack Eichel to a 8 year $13.5 million contract

This is big news for Vegas to be able to keep their top forward around for the long haul. There were some question marks given Vegas' tricky cap situation if they would be able to keep Eichel as a part of their core, but the Knights were able to make it work in the end.

Eichel's contract comes in at in-between mark amongst the recent notable deals that have been signed, a fair salary that will just about fit in the Vegas books.

What does this move mean for Vegas?

The Golden Knights have been a competitive team every season since they entered the NHL in the 2017-2018 campaign. With their franchise forward locked up for the long haul, it's hard to see that contending status change anytime soon.

Not to mention the fact Vegas brought on the biggest addition of the summer in Mitch Marner as a part of the fold during the offseason. The Eichel-Marner connection has potential to be among the best duo's in the NHL for a long time to come.

Jack Eichel has fit in nicely with Vegas since joining the squad in the 2021-2022 season. The 2023 Stanley Cup champion has amassed 100 goals and 153 assists for 253 points in 241 regular season games. In the playoffs, he has totaled 10 goals and 33 assists for 43 points in 40 games.
