The Boston Bruins could use a guy who can score goals while also bringing a gritty mentality to the ice.

Enter Kiefer Sherwood.

The Vancouver Canucks' forward is one of the NHL's hits leaders every year, and this season, he's on pace to set a new career-high in goals, too.

The Athletic's Chris Johnston believes Sherwood would be a perfect trade match for the Bruins, too.

"Sherwood is a prototypical Bruin: big, fast and tenacious on the forecheck," Johnston writes. "As such, he’s viewed as a player who would be a great fit in an organization that is building back up following last year’s reset. What’s more, the Canucks and Bruins have explored potential trade fits on a variety of players dating to the summer."

The main concern here might be whether the Bruins and Canucks can line up on the return cost.

"The biggest hurdle here might be the asking price," Johnston writes. "Vancouver is seeking a meaningful return for a player who looks poised to blow past 20 goals for the first time in his career, and Boston isn’t expected to be chasing rentals at this deadline. However, these teams might be able to thread the needle if this trade comes with a contract extension for Sherwood, which is something he’d be open to."

Sherwood is in the final year of his contract, on a deal that currently has a cap hit of $1.5 million for this season.

He'll get a raise on his next deal, wherever that comes from. Maybe it'll be with the Bruins.
