Toronto GM comments on possibility of team making more additions prior to season image

The Toronto Maple Leafs are a team that is always in the news when it comes to the trading front. The team will look quite different in this 25-26 season as they look to ice a new look lineup they hope can exercise their past playoff demons. Rumors continue to swirl around the organization that they may not be done making moves as this offseason comes to a close.

The assumption from most media pundits has been, based on the Leafs roster construction, that the team may still be open to making more moves either prior to the launch of this upcoming campaign or in-season if need be. This is based on the major hole punctured at the top of the lineup with the loss of Mitch Marner that the few depth additions they've made likely won't fix.

Sportsnet's Eric Engels caught up with Toronto GM Brad Treliving and asked him about the possibility of the Maple Leafs roster looking even more different when the season gets underway, in which Treliving provided an interesting answer to the question.

What did Treliving have to say about the Toronto trade front?

Treliving gave a simple yet fairly unclear answer to the question at hand and stated that he is "always looking" when it comes to assessing the trade market. Treliving went on to say working the trade market is a task that never truly stops, there is always a job to be done from that regard.

Brad did go on to provide a little more clarification to his statement, acknowledging that the team already has a plethora of players in the pipeline as is. Based on his answer here, he appears to allude to the fact that he is willing to let the process play out and reassess where the lineup is at as the season develops. Meaning, it is possible the Leafs are done making moves this summer and are content at least starting the year with what they have.

We'll see if anything changes from this respect as the birth of a new NHL season draws near. As usual, the Leafs will be a team with a bright spotlight shined on them from the hockey world.
