The St. Louis Blues made sure a key part of their defense was locked up for the foreseeable future after agreeing to an extension with blueliner Cam Fowler.

On Saturday, the Blues inked Fowler to a three-year, $6.1-million extension which would see him stick with St. Louis through his age-37 season, and ensured that a key part of their defense was locked up for the foreseeable future.

That means that St. Louis' blueline is basically set for the long-term with Philip Broberg the only real potential absence though with him being a restricted free agent, odds are that St. Louis isn't going to let him get to an offer sheet and we'll see and extension this season.

Fowler registered 40 points in 68 games last season for the Blues and Ducks (9 goals, 31 assists) and had been a mainstay with Anaheim for the last 15 years since being drafted 12th overall by the team in 2010.

One of the more understated defenders over the past decade and a half, Fowler has put up 493 points in 1,042 games (105 goals, 388 assists). His best season came in 2022-23 where he had 48 points (10 goals, 38 assists), adding 104 blocks and only 14 PIM.

Fowler was traded to the Blues last year in mid-December for a second-round pick in 2027 as well as prospect Jeremie Biakabutuka.

With the Blues still able to put forth a contending team, Fowler's extension is going to ensure that the team is able to keep their window open just a little bit longer.
