Why Tristan Jarry, Justin Brazeau aren’t playing for Penguins tonight with injury news image

The Pittsburgh Penguins play a big game on Thursday night.

It's a matchup of legends as Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin match up with the Washington Capitals and Alex Ovechkin.

The big names will all be out there, but a couple of key Penguins pieces will be sidelined and unavailable.

That list includes goalie Tristan Jarry and Justin Brazeau.

Why isn't Tristan Jarry playing tonight?

The Penguins' goaltender Jarry isn't playing against the Capitals because he's injured.

He was placed on Injured Reserve.

The Penguins have termed Jarry's ailment a lower-body injury.

So far this season, Jarry had won five of his seven starts with a.911 save percentage and 2.60 goals against average.

Why isn't Justin Brazeau playing tonight?

Brazeau is out against the Capitals because he's also on Injured Reserve.

The Penguins announced Brazeau will miss at least four weeks with an upper-body injury.

Brazeau was playing on Evgeni Malkin's line and had six goals and six assists through the first 12 games.

Pittsburgh is also without forward Noel Acciari, also on IR with an upper-body injury.
