It's not the most common trading combination, but on Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers completed an all-Pennsylvania trade.

They swap a forward and a defenseman, 1-for-1, in the new deal that was announced by the teams on New Year's Eve, about 2:45 p.m. ET.

The Penguins get  defenseman Egor Zamula.

The Flyers get  forward Philip Tomasino.

Zamula joined the Flyers' organization as an undrafted free agent in September 2018.

The defenseman appeared in NHL games across six seasons with Philadelphia. He had 41 career points (eight goals, 33 assists) in 168 NHL games with the Flyers.

Tomasino was a first-round pick by the Predators in the 2019 NHL Draft.

The forward has played in 218 NHL games between Nashville and Pittsburgh. He has 95 career points, split between 34 goals and 61 assists.

Tomasino had his career-high 23 points last season and notched six game-winning goals out of his 111 goals.

The Flyers have already announced that Tomasino is being assigned to their AHL team, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Philadelphia has a New Year's Eve game on the docket at 9:30 p.m. ET against the Calgary Flames.

The Penguins will play next on New Year's Day against the Detroit Red Wings at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday.
