World Juniors 2020: Canada scores, schedule, how to live stream image

The tournament may be coming to a close, but the Canadians have a shot at taking home gold in the 44th edition of the IIHF World Junior Championship.

Going up against the team that embarrassed them earlier in the tournament, Russia, Canada has a shot for sweet, sweet revenge. The status of captain Barrett Hayton is unknown, but there is still much firepower on the roster for the gold medal match.

'IT'S GOLD OR BUST':  NHL players look back on World Junior Championship memories

The Canadians finished without a medal last year after a heartbreaking overtime loss to Finland in the quarterfinals. In the 43-year history of the tournament, Canada has failed to medal just 12 times, including back-to-back finishes without hardware in 2013 and 2014. The majority of those failures were in Europe; the last time Canada medaled there was that 2008 gold in the Czech Republic. In 2013 in Russia and 2014 in Sweden, Canada finished fourth. The country finished sixth in Finland in 2016.

Team Canada's 2020 World Juniors roster

As usual, Canada's roster consists of some of the top players in hockey under age 20. This year's team includes five returning players from the 2019 squad: Barrett Hayton, Alexis Lafreniere, Jared McIsaac, Ty Smith and Joe Veleno. Lafreniere, Quinton Byfield and Jamie Drysdale are among the five draft-eligible players for June's NHL Entry Draft on the roster, with Lafreniere and Byfield expected to go 1-2.

Former Washington Capitals and longtime London Knights head coach Dale Hunter will be behind the bench this year.

Here's the roster he'll have to get Canada back on the medal podium.
