Claude Giroux's 1,000th game: Where the Flyers captain ranks all-time in games played in franchise history image

The buzz around Claude Giroux for weeks now has been about the trade deadline, but for one night on Thursday, the focus is on Giroux's past, not his future. Giroux will skate in his 1,000th career game tonight when the Flyers take on the Predators in Philadelphia. He will become only the second Flyer ever to skate in at least 1,000 games with the organization.

The Flyers captain joins a plethora of NHL players this season who have joined the 1K list. Giroux was able to accomplish the historic feat at the age of 34.

It very well could be Giroux's last game ever in a Flyers uniform. The forward is expected to be moved at the deadline to a contender in an effort for the Flyers to gain assets back for the pending free agent and give Giroux a shot at a Stanley Cup. Either Philadelphia will move Giroux before the Flyers' next game on Friday in Ottawa or may hold him out in order to work a deal without the worry of an injury.

Regardless of what jersey Giroux is wearing this time next week, he has solidified himself among some of the greatest Flyers to ever play for the franchise.

Where does Giroux rank all-time among Flyers in games played?

Giroux is only behind Philly legend Bobby Clarke in games played with the Flyers.

Clarke, who was a part of the Broad Street Bullies era in the 1970s, played all 15 seasons in his NHL career with the Flyers, totaling 1,144 games.

Reminder, this is just games played while in Philadelphia. Some of these players have more career games played elsewhere, like Jakub Voracek who skated in his 1,00th game this season, but only played 727 with the Flyers.

What other players have skated in their 1,000th game this season?

This season, there have been a ton of players playing in their 1,000th career game.

When Giroux skates in the game Thursday night, it will bring the total to 11 players this season alone that have 1,000 games under their belt.

Looking ahead, there are likely to be 13 players by the time the season ends. Both Jonathan Toews and Andrew Ladd have less than 10 games to go to hit the 1K threshold.

Here is a look at the players that have hit 1,000 games this season and when they did so.
