As the Minnesota Wild continue to look to hammer out a deal with their franchise player Kirill Kaprizov, the clock is ticking on getting a deal done by season's start.

The Wild would like to avoid further contract drama after word got out that Kaprizov had rejected an 8x16 offer. Minnesota is intent on finding a resolution sooner rather than later as the sides continue to engage in talks.

The longer time passes without an agreement found, trade talks will persist surrounding the Russian star as teams monitor what is going on with the contract situation. Unfortunately for those interested parties, this latest update may put a damper on those dreams.

What is the latest on Kaprizov?

Via insider Frank Seravalli, their is "zero chance" the Minnesota Wild have placed Kaprizov on their trade block. The Wild are not interested in engaging in trade dialogue as they remain focused on getting a contract signed. Minnesota will not be entertaining offers on their prized possession.

This bad news for teams like the New York Rangers and Chicago Blackhawks who have been heavily linked to the stud player. On the other hand this will allow Minnesota Wild fans to breathe a little easier as they navigate nervous organizational times waiting on good news with respect to their top player.

Kaprizov has stated his enjoyment playing for Minnesota. The question is what number/term will be suitable for him to extend and when that happens. Based on this report, the answer will be revealed soon.
