Oilers' Tristan Jarry made near-impossible save after losing his skate blade image

If you weren't watching closely, you'd wonder what the heck was going on.

It looked like Edmonton Oilers goalie Tristan Jarry had blown a tire. He suddenly couldn't stay upright on the ice anymore.

And in fact, he sort of had blown a tire, at least in the metaphorical hockey sense. One of his skate blades came off in the middle of a play.

So without a blade on his right skate, Jarry was slipping and sliding all over the place near his net, while the Anaheim Ducks had the puck in the offensive zone on Monday night.

Somehow, Jarry still made a crucial save, certainly not in the most conventional way:

That was one of 36 saves Jarry made on 40 shots on goal by the Ducks. The Oilers got the win, 7-4.

It's still early days for Jarry in Edmonton after his trade from the Pittsburgh Penguins. This was the ninth game Jarry played in for the Oilers, and he's now 6-2-1.

He was expected to be an improvement in net on what Edmonton had already, and around a brief injury absence, he has been. Jarry actually has been below his career save percentage average of 90.9, only at 88.3 so far with Edmonton, so there might even be room to progress to his normal performance level.

He certainly showed he can improvise with the way he made that save on Monday night.
