The Edmonton Oilers have been busy on the contract extension front, highlighted by Connor McDavid's new deal.
They may not be done, though, with Brett Kulak still playing in the final year of his current deal.
TSN's Ryan Rishing reported that "there have been some extension discussions with Kulak camp."
Rishing added: "Will be interesting to see which way he goes with it. Free agent D market might be something enticing to explore for him, but his role with Edmonton is important and he has a chance to win. Excellent playoff performer and great skater."
Kulak is a 31-year old defenseman in the final season of a four-year, $11 million contract. He'll be an unrestricted free agent on July 1 if he doesn't get a new deal before then.

Kulak came to Edmonton in a trade from Montreal in 2022. Last season, his usage rose a lot, which in turn may raise his cost.
"Edmonton’s preference would likely be to keep paying him in that number five range with a price tag that should slot in around the $3.5MM mark," writes Pro Hockey Rumors' Brian La Rose. "On the other hand, Kulak’s camp will probably be seeking a deal more commensurate with a number four defender, something around a million or so more per season."
That Rishing report did also indicate that nothing is "imminent," so don't expect immediate news on any deal for Kulak.
His is a name worth tracking for the Oilers as the season goes on, though. If Edmonton wants to keep as much of its talent as possible, there still might be a contract extension coming for Kulak.
