Two of the NHL's top-scoring young forwards won't be going to the Olympics with Team Canada.

The two of note here are Boston Bruins goalscorer Morgan Geekie and Chicago Blackhawks center Connor Bedard.

They, unlike Sharks phenom Macklin Celebrini, missed out when the roster was named on Wednesday.

It's not entirely surprising for either, although both had compelling cases.

Their homebase NHL fans certainly will be annoyed not to see their stars heading to the Olympics.

They also put together a case with their scoring rates, as shown in this post on X by Sportsnet:

Geekie has an even more fascinating case than Bedard, who was also recently injured, which wouldn't have helped his cause.

In the calendar year 2025, Geekie has scored 50 goals. That's tied with Nathan MacKinnon for the most of anyone in the NHL.

That just tells you how locked in Geekie has been.

Of course, putting together an Olympic team is about more than just getting the best players. It's about the best team, the best lines, the best chemistry and fits.

Canada decided Geekie and Bedard didn't make sense in their needed roles this time around. They'll get more chances.
