The Washington Commanders are starting Josh Johnson at QB on Christmas.

It's not how they planned it at the start of the season.

The depth chart began the year with Johnson as QB3.

Washington had young star Jayden Daniels as its starter.

He was being backed up by another former No. 2 overall pick, Marcus Mariota.

And then there was Johnson.

Clearly, things haven't gone well to reach this point.

Why isn't Jayden Daniels playing today?

Jayden Daniels isn't playing today because he's injured.

He had come back from his initial dislocated elbow injury to play again.

But when Daniels got hurt again, the Commanders decided to shut him down.

Washington has long been eliminated from the playoffs.

Now, Daniels is on Injured Reserve. Mariota is hurt, too. That leaves Johnson.
